There are countless books on public speaking—guides on posture, tone, storytelling, and slide design. But sometimes, the most powerful lessons come from outside the usual playbook.
Recently, I wanted to give my team something more experiential. Not just tips, but a way to feel what makes communication resonate.
So on a team call, we listened to Wander by Oscuro—a raw, emotional piece of music. No slides. No frameworks. Just sound.
Then we explored its flow:
A soft, deliberate start sets the tone.
Ghost notes maintain rhythm—without noise.
Silence creates anticipation.
The melody feels… conversational.
The rhythm evolves—but never overwhelms.
The sustained, evolving synthesizer pads (the texture) provide a continuous, reliable foundation.
And we asked ourselves: Isn’t this what great communication sounds like?
Use dynamics to avoid monotony.
Let your message breathe.
Build an emotional connection.
Take your audience on a journey.
Always provide a consistent, reliable narrative foundation (the “pad”) for your details to rest on.
Communication isn’t just words. It’s energy. Presence. Texture. When it resonates like music, it sticks.
Next time you have to deliver a presentation or communicate a complex idea to your customers, try using the “Wander” model: start softly, use silence to let the complex idea sink in, and ensure your core message (the melody) is never lost to the noise of the data.
At CafeSami, I love exploring unexpected ways to teach timeless skills. This moment reminded me that inspiration can come from anywhere—even a song.
Have you ever used something unconventional to teach or learn communication?
